He also reported that all the bills are paid to date, but that we have some \softline future expenses to consider. He also reported that the town is going to bill the trustees for some \softline of the snow days and holiday pay that the assistant librarian received which had been cut from \softline last year{\u8217\'92}s budget.\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 \ul Director{\u8217\'92}s Report}{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 Max reported that we had a big surge in library attendance which can be attributed to the fall \softline after-school programs; these are heavily attended and have been very successful. This is the first \softline year that there has been such a program. He also reported that E-books are leading the pack in the \softline rate of increased usage.\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 The French classes are progressing well, with 14 pupils, and the cartoon program has just started \softline with ten children attending.\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 The Lego program was a huge success with the senior group doing well enough in the regional \softline contest so that they were invited to compete in the state contest where they placed 18}{\plain \fs24 \super th}{\plain \fs24 in a50-team contest. This program has 3 teams at the Library: one for seniors and two junior. Everyone \softline who went to the state contest had a wonderful time and commented on how well the games were \softline run.\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 There is a 6-week adult art class upcoming for the library, although a date has not been agreed \softline upon with the teacher; more on that later. \par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 Every one is invited to the locking of the time capsule on Monday Dec 11}{\plain \fs24 \super th}{\plain \fs24 at 7 pm.\par }{\plain \fs24 On this coming Friday, Dec. 7th, the Friends of the library are hosting a library Open House with \softline Santa and story teller/musician Steve Blunt. It was decided that \softline we need other bids and Max will see to that and have more info for our next meeting.s\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 \ul New Business}{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 Under new business, there was a lot of discussion about a policy for closing the library during a \softline no heat situation. It was decided that Max and Cathy and the chair or the trustees would monitor \softline the fuel level in the oil tank and call the town hall if the gauge gets low. If they cannot guarantee \softline a delivery, then Max and Cathy are authorized to purchase 100 gallons of oil locally to keep the \softline heat on.\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 Max would like to try having all book donations made on Thursday and Friday only due to lack \softline of space to store and sort them. This was granted unanimously.\par }{\plain \fs24 \par }{\plain \fs24 The question of a donated life-sized santa for the roof of the library was discussed.
